Skin patch to treat heart attack & strokes

A revolutionary skin patch to treat heart attacks & strokes

A Japanese firm has invented a new skin patch to treat high blood pressure, heart attacks and strokes. The revolutionary skin patch is now available in Japan.

When the patient sticks the skin patch to his/her arm, chest or back, the patch allows the drug to gradually seep through the skin and to the blood stream.

The skin patch, which contains 4 or 8 mg dose of drug, provides a steady flow of bisoprolol, a type of beta-blocker used in the treatment of high blood pressure, heart failure and probably many other diseases.

Experts say that having a steady supply of drug could reduce the incidence of heart attacks and strokes. The skin patch provides a constant supply of drug.

The clinical trials showed that the patch kept the blood pressure readings stable through a 24 hour period which is very important. The side effects remained same as the tablets.
