Eating alone at your desk may make you more productive

Eating alone at your desk may make you more productive

How do you prefer to have your lunch when you are in the office? If you are the one who goes out with your colleagues for lunch then you are likely to be productive. The more productive are those who have their lunch at the desk.
This is an outcome of research conducted by a team of scientists from Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany. After the research, the scientists found out that the workers who had their lunch at their desk were more productive later in the day when compared with their colleagues who had their lunch outside.

It was found out that the lunch at the restaurant with friends reduced cognitive control – a process of acquiring knowledge by the use of reasoning intuition or perception) more than those who had lunch in their desk.

The research was conducted by providing identical meals (same food with equal quantity) to the participants. After meal in a restaurant, the employees looked calmer and less wakeful when compared to those who had their lunch at their desk. Those who had lunch outside also fared poorly on performance tests of cognitive control and neurophysiologic measurements which indicated decreased cognitive control of performance and error monitoring process.

So pack your lunch, avoid going out during lunch hours and be more productive.
